PROTON CONDUCTION IN SOME ACID NIOBIUM PHOSPHATES

摘要
Proton mobility in K0.5NbOPO4.0.2H3PO3.1.7H2O and in its pristine compound alpha-NbOPO4.nH2O(n<3) is studied by means of the impedance spectroscopy technique in the temperature range 300-413 K and in the frequency range 1 Hz to 12 MHz. The K0.5NbOPO4.0.2H3PO4.1.7H2O exhibits a greater conductivity at room temperature (1.5 X 10(-5) S cm-1) than alpha-NbOPO4.nH2O (n < 3) (10(-6) S cm-1) due to the presence of H3O+ in its interlayer space. This is confirmed by IR spectroscopy which shows a band centered at 1700 cm-1 assigned to deformation vibration of H3O+.
