摘要
The decagonal phase in the Al-Co-Ni system transforms at lower temperatures into a crystalline approximate phase. Intermediate states between these equilibrium phases with complex domain structures are frozen in during experimental crystal preparation. The implications of the experimental difficulties in preserving well ordered single crystals of the high-temperature quasiperiodic phase for X-ray diffraction studies at ambient temperature are discussed.
