摘要：

Studies predicted an increase in HIV prevalence in most regions of the world. Typing of HIV suggested geographic routes of spread and the need for geographic and risk group-specific vaccines. A high level of compliance is necessary for condom programs to prevent HIV transmission. Among US women, ethnic minorities, adolescents, and intravenous drug users, HIV/AIDS incidence is increasing.
