摘要
Two proteins synthesized exclusively in developing follicles have been isolated from eggs of Manduca sexta. One protein has a molecular mass of 130 kDa and is composed of two identical 65 kDa subunits. This protein is glycosylated and phosphorylated. The second protein has a molecular mass of 140 kDa and is composed of two 40 and two 35 kDa subunits. The second protein is glycosylated but not phosphorylated. The proteins are made after active vitellogenin uptake by the developing egg but before chorion formation. Both proteins are extremely sensitive to hydrolysis by proteases found in the egg. We propose the generic term follicle-specific protein (FSP) for these proteins.
