FUNDAMENTAL REFLECTIVITY SPECTRUM OF CDXHG1-XTE CRYSTALS FROM 1.5-EV TO 4-EV

Reflectivity measurements of solid solutions of CdxHg1−xTe for x from 0.02 to 0.74 and for x = 0 and x = 1 have been performed in the range from 1.5 to 4 eV at the temperature of 315°K. Two maxima in the reflection spectrum were observed. They are interpreted as connected to the transitions E1 and E1 + Δ1 at the Λ‐point of the Brillouin zone. The values of E1, E1 + Δ1, and Δ1 are nonlinear functions of the composition x. The change of the peak position E1 with the composition between x = 0.00 and 0.10 is nonmonotonous. The reflection spectra for HgTe and CdTe are in a good agreement with previously reported ones. Copyright © 1969 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
