A PULSE HEIGHT COMPENSATOR FOR USE WITH TIME TO AMPLITUDE CONVERTERS

A compensation circuit, based on addition of a difference of amplitude of the side channel pulse with the amplitude corresponding to the midpoint of the energy range selected in the side channel, is used for energy compensation in a time measuring system. This reduced the centroid shift with energy and improved the resolution in a time measuring system using 6810A photomultipliers. A resolution of 0.52 nsec with energy selection of 300 to 930 keV in both channels and a slope of the order of 9 × 10-11 sec was obtained. The centroid shift in the energy range is of the order of 3 × 10-11 sec only. © 1968.
