INTERNAL CONVERSION COEFFICIENTS IN 195PT

The total and partial internal conversion coefficients of the 31 keV, 99 keV and 130 keV transitions in 195Pt were measured with a magnetic solenoid electron spectrometer, scintillation and Ge(Li) detectors. The spectrometer transmission and the efficiencies of the gamma-ray detectors were experimentally determined with calibrated reference sources. Corrections to the electron line intensities arising from scattering in the source backing and in the source itself were determined from the analysis of the continuous β-spectrum of 63Ni sources of various thicknesses evaporated on backings of various thicknesses. The coefficients of the 99 keV transition αK = 5.8±0.5 and α = 6.9±0.5 are in excellent agreement with the previous Mössbauer and gamma spectroscopy results of Harris et al. The partial conversion coefficient ratios of the 31 keV and 99 keV M1 transitions are about 10 % larger than the theoretical calculations of Hager and Seltzer. © 1969.
