摘要
Degassed ZnO was immersed in a solution of stearic acid in CCl4, and infrared spectra were recorded in situ as the adsorption proceeded. The concentration ranged from 0.25 to 4 mM. Improved infrared cells are described. The spectra indicate that an irreversible reaction occurred at the surface with the formation of an oriented film of stearate, the hydrocarbon chains being in a coplanar, trans zigzag mode, probably tilted about 60°. © 1969.
