摘要
The fine structure of bull and human sperm nuclei and membranes was studied by treating unsectioned spermatozoa with alkaline thioglycolate and drying by the Anderson critical point method. The nucleus of bull and human sperm, in an unpacked state, is composed of a network of chromatin fibers. Single fibers range from 140 to 240 Å in diameter and exhibit possible cross fibers or branches. Lengths of measured fibers could be traced for at least 12μ. Three components of an outer membrane system were distinguished in bull sperm after thioglycolate treatment. The human sperm membranes were found to be more labile to thioglycolate treatment. © 1968 Academic Press Inc.
