MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF RB1-XKXNICL3, RBVBR3 AND CSNII3

摘要
The magnetic properties of Rb1-xKxNiCl3, RbVBr3 and CsNiI3 were investigated by susceptibility and torque measurements. For Rb1-xKxNiCl3, the phase diagram of temperature vs. potassium concentration x was obtained. With increasing x, the anisotropy changes from the easy-axis type to the easy-plane one at x(c) = 0.38. Three-dimensional ordering occurs in one step for x < x(c) and in two steps for x > x(c). In RbVBr3, three phase transitions were observed (T(N1) = 28.0 K, T(N2) = 24.5 K and T(N3) = 21.3 K at zero field). The second transition point T(N2) is sensitive to the external field perpendicular to the c-axis. CsNiI3 is diamagnetic at room temperature and it becomes paramagnetic below 150 K. The susceptibility increases monotonously and reaches the maximum at helium temperatures. It is considered that CsNiI3 is not a localized spin system, but an itinerant electron system.
