摘要
Single units were isolated in the orbito-insular cortex of cats (under chloralose anesthesia) and the animals were presented with visual and auditory stimuli whose temporal relationship (Δt) was varied in a systematic manner. A PDP-5 digital computer controlled administration of 2900 stimuli and collected the spike data in the form of post-stimulus time histograms. Single-modality stimulus presentations revealed multimodal, unimodal and unresponsive cells. All types exhibited sensory interaction. The functional organization of this cortical area and its relationship to the descending auditory system are considered. © 1969.
