ON THE PARTICLE BEHAVIOR IN FRONT OF ADVANCING LIQUID ICE INTERFACE

摘要
The interaction of inert foreign particles and a solid-liquid interface during solidification has been investigated experimentally. The value of the rate of advance of the freezing interface at which both the repulsion and the capture of a foreign particle are possible, is determined as the critical rate. The literature on the relationship between this critical velocity and the dimension of a particle is generally concerned with particle sizes less than 10-1 cm. It is the aim of this study to determine the critical velocity for particle sizes ranging from 10-1 to 1 cm. © 1990.
