HIGH-TEMPERATURE PERSISTENT SPECTRAL HOLE BURNING OF QUINIZARIN ADSORBED ON GAMMA-ALUMINA POWDER

摘要
Quinizarin strongly bound (chemisorbed) to the surface of gamma-alumina represents the first example of a dye-surface system where stable holes could be burnt even at T = 77 K. Therefore, it was possible to determine the temperature dependence of the hole-burning line width GAMMA-HB and the Debye-Waller factor alpha-D over an extended temperature range. It is shown that quinizarin/gamma-alumina is a very promising material with regard to the parameters important for persistent spectral hole burning at high temperatures.
