ABSORPTION, PHOTOCURRENT AND PHOTOELECTRON-SPECTRA OF HETEROCYCLIC POLYMERS

摘要
Thin films of poly-3-methylthiophene (P3MeTh) are formed electrochemically on gold-electrodes. Absorption spectra and XPS- and UPS-measurements yield the information on the band structure, which differs for the oxidized (blue) and the reduced (red) state. Measurements of photocurrent and differential capacity identify the reduced film as a p-type semiconductor and the oxidized film as metallic. The band model is used in a first approximation to describe the electronic properties. Limitations of which are discussed.
