摘要
The pharyngeal epithelium of Eulalia viridis (Müller) is covered with a thick cuticle and is built up by two types of glandular cells: 1) serous cells secreting inactive proteolytique enzymes which are perhaps activated, on the outside of the cuticle by the acid secretion of the 2) fluteshaped cells. The digestive process was followed by controlled feeding experiments and investigated with the light- and electron-microscope. The pharyngeal cuticle consists of two main zones. The cuticle proper is formed by collagenous fibers - orientated in two orthogonal directions - which are perforated by epithelial microvilli. The epicuticle is formed by the tips of the microvilli covered by an acid mucous filamentous coat which can be compared to a glycocalyx. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
