LIFETIMES ASSOCIATED WITH LOW-ENERGY GAMMA TRANSITIONS IN 128I AND 134CS

A study of the lifetimes and energies associated with low-energy gamma transitions from 127I(n, γ)128I and 133Cs(n, γ)134Cs reactions have been studied using a high-resolution Ge(Li) X-ray spectrometer system. In the de-excitation of 128I new transitions have been observed at 147.01 and 156.08 keV in addition to those previously reported and a lifetime of 8 ns was confirmed for the line at 133.31 keV. In the case of 134Cs decay, the line at 116 keV has been resolved into a quartet of lines of energies 113.67, 116.26, 118.27 and 120.43 keV. Several delayed states were observed including half-lives of 15 and 55 ns associated with lines at 116.26 and 118.27 keV and a half-life of 38 ns connected with the 176.18 keV transition. © 1969.
