Analysis of the microwave spectrum of 1,3,4-selenadiazole shows the molecule to be planar with C2v symmetry. Rotational constants of 80SeC2H2N2 in MHz are A = 8479.55 ± 2.06, B = 3342.64 ± 0.05, and C = 2396.37 ± 0.04; for 78SeC2H2N2, A = 8480.70 ± 1.20, B = 3372.69 ± 0.03, and C = 2411.80 ± 0.03. Stark effect measurements give a dipole moment of 3.40 ± 0.05 debye. An approximate structure assuming some bond lengths from 1,3,4-thiadiazole was fit to the observed moments of inertia giving a carbon-selenium bond length of 1.868 Å and a CSeC bond angle of 81.8°. © 1969.
