摘要
Results are presented of investigations into the growth and decay of both positive-point and negative-point discharges in silicone fluids of three different viscosities. The form of the negative discharge varies considerably with viscosity. The form of the positive discharge is a function of the degree of over-voltage applied. The breakdown transition from a positive filament to an arc is shown to involve a return stroke from the cathode to the point anode changing the filament from a non-luminous shadow to a brightly luminous channel. Propagation velocities are found for both positive and negative discharges. © 1979.
