摘要
Nitrogen dioxide can be removed from the gas phase by the solid 12-tungstophosphoric acid, which adsorbs the oxide into its bulk structure. A portion of the sorbed NO2 reacts with the hydrogen-bonded water in the interior of the solid to form HNO3, which is released into the gas phase, while the remainder of the NO2 remains tightly bound in the solid. Although no formation of N-2 is observed, the process, which is at least partially reversible, offers some interesting possibilities for the removal of NO2 from the gas phase.
