SINGLE-CRYSTAL X-RAY STRUCTURES OF THE POLYOXOTUNGSTATE SALTS K8.3NA1.7[CU4(H2O)2(PW9O34)2].24H2O AND NA14CU[CU4(H2O)2(P2W15O56)2].53H2O

The structures of single crystals of the polyoxotungstate salts K8.3Na1.7[Cu4(H2O)2(PW9O34)2]•24H2O (1) and {formula-omited} (2) have been determined by X-ray diffraction (Mo radiation). Crystal data: 1, triclinic, {formula-omited}, a = 12.369 (6) Å, b = 16.957 (7) Å, c = 11.736 (6) Å, α = 108.64 (4)°, β = 98.47 (5)°, γ = 82.42 (4)°, Z = 1, R(F) = 0.043 for 5714 independent data [I ≥ 3σ(I)]; 2, triclinic, {formula-omited}, a = 13.399 (9) Å, b = 25.017 (13) Å, c = 13.339 (9) Å, α = 104.84 (5)°, β = 114.49 (5)°, γ = 82.61 (5)°, Z = 1, R(F) = 0.068 for 4615 independent data [I ≥ 3σ(I)]. Two B-α-PW9O34 9− units in 1, and two α-P2W15O56 12− units in 2, are linked via a set of four coplanar Cu2+ atoms, two of which also carry H2O ligands. The CuO6 octahedra in each centrosymmetric anion are all tetragonally elongated with their long axes parallel. © 1990, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
