摘要
Some double-chain surfactants with two carboxylate groups were prepared from diepoxy compounds. Their surface-active properties in alkaline aqueous solutions were measured and the results were compared with the data of similar types of double-chain surfactants bearing two other ionic head groups. The effect of the difference in head groups or connecting groups between two lipophilic chains on surface-active properties is discussed. In addition to an excellent micelle forming property and high wetting ability, these bis(carboxylate) compounds with two decyl chains have higher solubility in hard water than the typical single-chain soap, sodium dodecanoate. © 1993 Academic Press Limited.
