THERMAL-BEHAVIOR ON GRAPHITE DUE TO ELECTROCHEMICAL INTERCALATION

摘要
The in situ measurement of the temperature change on a graphite surface due to electrochemical intercalation of cations (Li+ and K+ ions) and anions (ClO4 − and BF4 − ions) was carried out. The exothermic and endothermic changes were observed in the process of intercalation and deintercalation, respectively. The heat appearing in the deintercalation was mainly due to the entropy change of reaction. This also suggests the occurrence of an increase in entropy for the deintercalation process and a decrease for the case of intercalation. © 1990, The Electrochemical Society, Inc.
