CHARGE-SYMMETRY TESTS IN NEUTRON-PROTON ELASTIC-SCATTERING

摘要
The charge-symmetry breaking of nuclear forces can be tested in n-p scattering by comparing the polarizations of the neutron elastically scattered at c.m. angle θ with that of the proton at π-θ or in a time-reversed experiment. The expected difference in polarizations due to one-photon exchange and ρ-ω mixing are computed. The energy and angular dependence of the polarization difference caused by these two effects are similar, but that due to ρ-ω mixing is smaller and of opposite sign. The polarization difference is typically of the order of several tenths of a percent. © 1978.
