NONPLANAR (C2) STRUCTURE OF PHTHALAN FROM FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY IN A SUPERSONIC JET

摘要
Phthalan has been shown, previously, from the observation of far-infrared puckering transitions, to have a planar skeleton in respect to this puckering motion in the S0 electronic state. Supersonic jet fluorescence spectra show, however, that the 1,3-carbon atoms are twisted out-of-plane in a C2 configuration with a 137 cm-1 barrier to planarity. © 1990.
