INOCULATION OF CEREBROSPINAL FLUID OF A NEURO-BEHCET-PATIENT INTO MICE

Intracerebral inoculation of CSF of a patient suffering from Behçet's disease consistently produced a meningoencephalitic syndrome in mice. After the first passage, the inflammatory lesions were slight but increased in intensity after further passages. The experimentally induced meningoencephalitis in mice is not suggested an allergic reaction. Although inoculation of CSF to the chorioallantois was negative, the reported findings indicate an infectious agent causing the observed CNS lesions in mice. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
