POLYMER COATING OF SURFACES IN COLUMN LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY AND CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORESIS

摘要
'Polymer coating' of surfaces in chromatography and electrophoresis is an alternative to the classical 'chemical bonding' procedures via anchor groups on the surfaces of the support material. In chromatography the layers of immobilized, specially synthesized polymers of different chemical structure serve as an effective stationary phase for selective separations as wel as to suppressing undesirable interaction between the analyte molecules and the support surface. In capillary electrophoresis, polymer coatings control the electroosmotic flow and the adsorption of analytes onto the support surface as in liquid chromatography.
