摘要
The uv absorption, and in some cases, the optical rotatory dispersion and circular dichroism data of some sulfur-containing nucleosides are reported. Both the pH effect and the correlation of spectral data with the non-sulfur containing nucleosides show that the intense absorption bands in the 300 to 350 mμ region are due to the π → π* intramolecular charge-transfer transition by moving the charge from the sulfur-containing substituents to the purine ring.
