A THEORETICAL APPROACH TO THE INTERPRETATION OF SINGLE-ION SPECTROSCOPY OF RARE-EARTH-DOPED INORGANIC GLASSES

摘要
We present a theoretical approach to the interpretation of spectra obtained from the experimental technique, Dilution-Narrowed Laser Spectroscopy (DNLS) which could eventually lead to the observation of the optical spectrum of isolated rare-earth ions doped in inorganic glasses (Single-Ion Spectroscopy). Through an investigation of Eu3+-doped Na2O.2SiO2 glass, we propose that the structural/spectral model generated through Molecular Dynamics and point-charge crystal field calculations is presently the most reliable means to interpret DNLS and single-ion spectra.
