ESTIMATION OF RECRUITMENT FROM IMMIGRATION VERSUS INSITU REPRODUCTION USING POLLOCKS ROBUST DESIGN

Recruitment to animal populations can occur through both immigration and in situ reproduction, which are conceptually distinct and which lead to different mechanistic models of population dynamics. A capture-recapture design that can be used to obtain separate estimates of these 2 recruitment components is described. Data are used from a population of Microtus pennsylvanicus at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Maryland. -from Authors
