COMMUNICATION APPREHENSION AMONG COLLEGE-STUDENTS IN AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, AND KOREA

Considerable research has been completed in America on apprehension about oral communication, but little is known about its effects in other countries. This study investigated its prevalence among selected groups of male and female college students in America (N = 397), Australia (N = 219), Japan (N = 504), and Korea (N = 73), by means of the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension for College Students. The results indicated that the Americans had a significantly lower incidence of apprehension than the Japanese but a significantly higher incidence than the Australians and Koreans. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
