AN ANOMALOUS STRUCTURE IN GRAPHITE WHISKERS

摘要
In the present paper a comprehensive electron microscope examination has been made of graphite whiskers, grown in a d.c. are at Union Carbide, Corp. Their structure is that of a closed basal scroll and diffraction patterns are consistent with this conclusion. In many whiskers double diffraction occurs and it is shown how in specific cases this effect can yield extra reflections having indices ( 1 20 1 ̄ 20) and ( 1 2 1 21̄0). These reflections have been attributed to a different graphite crystal structure by Hoerni and Weigle. © 1969.
