EFFECT OF OXYGEN COVERAGE ON SURFACE RELAXATION OF NI(110) MEASURED BY MEDIUM ENERGY ION SCATTERING

摘要
Changes have been observed in the upper layer spacing of a clean and an oxygen covered Ni(110) single crystal by employing medium energy ion scattering, combined with channeling and blocking. We find a contraction of 4% for the clean surface and a minor expansion of 1% for a surface with 1 3 monolayer of adsorbed oxygen. © 1979.
