NEW RETINAL NEURON - INTERPLEXIFORM CELL

There is increasing evidence that all vertebrate retinas contain a sixth type of neurone, which has been called the interplexiform cell. Recent experiments on goldfish and Cebus monkey retinas, whose interplexiform cells contain dopamine, have provided information concerning the synaptic organization of these cells, and the possible role that they may play in information processing within the retina. © 1979.
