EVIDENCE FOR A POSITIVE PARITY DECOUPLED BAND IN RB-79

A band of levels has been assigned to the previously unobserved Rb79. The measurements of angular distributions and excitation functions are consistent with an interpretation of these levels as arising from the decoupling of a 1g92 proton from the Kr78 core. The results are compared with the previously proposed Rb81 decoupled band. NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ge70,72,73(Be9,Xγ), E=25, 35 MeV; Ge73(B10,Xγ), E=40 MeV; and Ge70(C12,Xγ), E=47 MeV; measured σ(Eγ). Ge72(B10,3nγ)Rb79, E=30-40 MeV; measured σ(Eγ,E), σ(Eγ,θ), and Ge(Li)-Ge(Li) γγ coinc.; Fe54(Si28,3pγ) Rb79, E=88 MeV; Si(Li)-Ge(Li) γγ coinc.; deduced levels and Jπ.
