AN ESR STUDY OF SHORT-LIVED RADICALS DERIVED FROM PYRIMIDINES IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION

The electron spin resonance spectra of the short-lived radicals which are formed by the reaction, in aqueous solution, between various pyrimidines and the hydroxyl or amino radical have been determined. 2. 2. The hyperfine splitting constants and the g-factors of these and related radicals have been used to assign the spectra to specific structures. 3. 3. The similarities and differences between these results and those obtained when the formation of radicals from the pyrimidines is induced in the solid state are noted. © 1969.
