SERS AND NORMAL COORDINATE ANALYSIS OF MALEIMIDE CHEMISORBED ON COLLOIDAL SILVER

摘要
Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) of maleimide adsorbed on colloidal silver, colloidal gold and Ag island films has been observed. A strong chemisorption of the maleimide molecule to the metal surface was evident from the observation of the corresponding metal-molecule stretching vibration. The normal coordinate analysis (NCA) of the metal complex was carried out using the force field of the isolated molecule and a Ag-N force constant. The NCA of the in-plane modes included two possible configurations of the metal-adsorbate complex, allowing an interpretation of SERS spectra obtained with fresh and aged colloids and an approximate description of the surface sensitive vibrational fundamentals.
