The influence of the perovskite-type complex oxide additives, BiFeO3 and Ba(Cu0.5W0.5)O-3, on the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) has been investigated in low-temperature sintered Pb(Zr, Ti)O-3 ceramics. The coexistence region of two tetragonal and rhombohedral phases of the Pb(Zr, Ti)O-3 ceramics on the MPB has been narrowed and shifted to the Ti-rich region of the composition by the above additives. The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the Pb(Zr, Ti)O-3 were affected by this shift of the MPB and here the optimum Zr/Ti ratio of 52/48 was determined.
