摘要
Measurements have been made of the displacement of the temperature of maximum density (Tm) of water resulting from the solution of several quaternary ammonium halides and the iodine-iodide ion complex. The results indicate that the water structure-promoting characteristics of the species ordinarily found at room temperature are not manifested in the neighborhood of Tm. The results are attributed to ion-size effects which become important at temperatures approaching Tm because of the enhanced structure of the solvent.
