摘要
A simple and explicit expression is presented for the total nuclear level width ΛJ(Ex) as a function of the excitation energy Ex and of the total angular momentum J of a highly excited compound nucleus. The J-dependence of Λ is found to be mainly due to the difference of the spin cutoff parameters σC2 and σres2 of the compound nucleus and of the residual nuclei, respectively. Using this formula, we have also obtained a simplified Hauser-Feshbach expression for the average cross sections. © 1969.
