ANALYTICAL APPLICATION OF THE MICROWAVE INDUCED PLASMA USED WITH LASER ABLATION OF SOLID SAMPLES

摘要
The article reports on first analytical applications of an experimental arrangement for optical emission spectrometry (OES) that couples the set-up for laser ablation of solid samples into a low-pressure argon atmosphere with a microwave induced plasma (MIP). It is demonstrated with binary samples (chromium/iron and brass) and with steel. copper, aluminium and borax glass (Li2B4O7) that, to a first approximation, make matrix independent analysis possible by time-gated detection of the emission spectra combined with internal standardization of the line intensities. Low absolute and relative detection limits are achieved with one laser shot only.
