摘要
Field investigations of the dispersal of the tephritid fly Urophora cardui L. (Diptera: Tephritidae) reveal unusual fluctuations in the population density during the invasion of an unoccupied area. A computer model is presented that gives a possible explanation of these temporal and spatial patterns. Adopting the local dynamics from empirical knowledge we obtained results for the invasion which agree qualitatively and quantitatively with known field data.
