A case-study is presented of the design, construction and use of a simple decision support system to aid decisions concerning the choice of appropriate livestock disease control strategy against a particular disease-the bovine pestivirus syndrome. The approach is flexible and can be applied to a variety of different situations to help decision makers make more effective and informed decisions. In particular, it can be applied to virtually any disease control decision making, although complete health strategies need to be considered rather than only those for individual diseases.
