PULSE POLAROGRAPHY AT HANGING MERCURY DROP ELECTRODE

摘要
The reduction of cadmium and nickel at the hanging mercury drop electrode was studied and compared with reduction at the dropping mercury electrode. Variables investigated include potential scan rate, pulse magnitude, electrode area, and differential and integral modes. Increased sensitivity was attained at the hanging mercury drop electrode owing to increased surface area. Resolution of reversible substances was comparable to that at the dropping mercury electrode, but irreversible peaks were more drawn out. A major advantage of the HMDE is that the electrode can be easily and reproducibly renewed. © 1969.
