摘要
The pair distribution function of a system of fluid hard spheres is calculated by means of a simple generalization of the Percus-Yevick theory. A relation between the pair distribution function and the direct correlation function which leads to self-consistent results from the pressure and compressibility equations of state and which is similar, but not identical, to a proposal of Rowlinson, is postulated. This relation leads to an excellent equation of state for fluid hard spheres. Furthermore, in contrast to previous generalizations of the Percus-Yevick theory, this approach makes use only of the results of the Percus-Yevick theory and does not require the solution of a new integral equation. © 1969 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
