The authors report the preliminary results concerning the carrier-facilitated transport or amino acids through a polymer-supported liquid membrane. Kryptofix 5 was chosen as a carrier since it showed excellent transport selectivities for various ammonium ions (RNH//3 plus ). Phenylalanine hydrochloride is quite well transported through the membrane in the absence of carrier, while other fluxes were negligible. This process is probably governed by the solubilities of these compoynds in organic phase. Kryptofix at a concentration of 10 minus **5 M did not influence the fluxes of the hydroclorides, but a t a concentration of 10 minus **4 M it significantly speeded up the transport of amino acid hydrochlorides trhough the membrane. 13 Refs.
