摘要
The extremal areas of the Fermi surface of paramagnetic f.c.c. transition metal platinum are calculated using the linear muffin tin orbital (LMTO) method in the atomic sphere approximation. To see the effect of exchange and correlation potential on the Fermi surface. the calculations are done using various exchange and correlation potentials. The Slater X-alpha-exchange potential with alpha = 0.815 gives the best agreement with experimental data. Inclusion of relativistic effects also show remarkable improvement over the non-relativistic calculations for platinum. The Fermi velocity of electrons at the Fermi surface and the mass enhancement factor are also calculated using the Slater X-alpha (alpha = 0.815) exchange potential and are compared with the experimental data and recent theoretical calculations.
