STRUCTURE AND MAGNETISM IN BCC CO/FE SUPERLATTICES

Two series of MBE-grown Co(x)Fe(y) multilayers (x = 19 angstrom, 14 angstrom < y < 55 angstrom and y = 25 angstrom, 6 angstrom < x < 42 angstrom) have been studied by X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. For x < 24 angstrom the presence of bcc Co is evidenced and its saturation magnetization is determined to be 1412 G, which corresponds to a magnetic moment of 1.71mu(B) for Co in the bcc phase.
