ELECTRON-INDUCED CASCADE SHOWERS IN INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA

摘要
The average behaviour of a cascade shower initiated by a 1000 MeV electron in the layers of lead and acryl resins, lead and air gap is investigated using the photo-sensitive films. The above materials are chosen to examine the distortion of shower development due to the energy absorption and the geometrical spread in the spacer. Results obtained are compared with the experimental results for homogeneous media, conventional shower theory and the Monte Carlo calculations. The agreement between the experimental results and the Monte Carlo results is satisfactory. From this analysis, it is concluded that the dilution approximation is fairly good for the treatment of the shower in these materials. © 1969.
