X-RAY INVESTIGATION OF STRUCTURE OF TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM HEXATUNGSTATE [(C4H9)4N]2W6019

Crystals of Tetrabutylammoniumhexatungstate [(C4H9)4N]2W6O19 have been investigated by x-ray methods to become acquainted with the structure of the isopolyanion W6O192-. The triclinic cell of symmetry Pi with α = 11.91Å, b = 12.71 Å, c = 19.72 Å, α = 77.6°, β = 71.3° and γ = 61.8° contains two formula units. The result of the structure investigation displays separate W6O192- groups, which are octahedral with regard to tungsten and oxygen. Six WO6 octahedra are linked together by four edges either. The centre of the W6O192- group is occupied by an oxygen atom belonging to all six WO6 octahedra. © 1969, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
