DISTRIBUTION OF CATIONS IN METAL OXIDE AND METAL SULPHIDE SOLID SOLUTIONS FORMED DURING OXIDATION OF ALLOYS

摘要
The distribution of cations in metal oxides and metal sulphide solutions formed during the oxidation of alloys at elevated temperatures varies with distance from the alloy-scale interface inasmuch as cations having a greater mobility are enriched near the scale-gas interface. Equations for the calculation of the cation distribution are derived and applied to the formation of Cu2S-Ag2S solid solutions on Cu-Ag alloys and NiO-Cr2O2 solid solutions on Ni-Cr-alloys. © 1969 Pergamon Press.
